Update

I had a meeting with one of my lectures to discuss my project and to help refine it down further. We noticed that I am more interested in the visual content rather than the advertising itself. I thought of this at the start of summer but was worried that it was too vague, however, It does give me the chance to explore different types of design.

I decided to look into Visual Metaphors and their persuasion with the public, e.g. campaigns, subtle messages etc within poster design. I like the impact that it can cause, positive or negative and how visual representation can look using objects and morphing the body.

I looked up a few photoshop techniques as I have not used that program in a while. I thought I would start with an art test to see if my skills are ok, what needs improving and how to use some tools. I made one campaign using a models photo with a cigarrete in her hand. I thought it would be a good start as an art test for a stop smoking campaign. I wanted the smoke to look like a choker or a noose around her neck to show the dangers it can cause.

After the edit i knew I had to improve a few skills.

  1. Text in Photoshop to stand out more and to go with the picture.
  2. Basic commands in Photoshop. I need to touch up on this
  3. To go further with the picture
I also want to experiment with morphing the bodies to create visual metaphors.
